Long Beach, CA – May 28, 2004 – WiFi-Plus, Inc. demonstrated obstruction penetrating WiFi to delegates of the International Satellite and Communications exchange (ISCe) Conference and Expo in Long Beach, CA. ISCe2004 is the 3rd annual west coast conference and expo of global leaders of satellite communications in areas of military, intelligence, entertainment, retail, global navigation systems and commerce.
“The obstruction penetrating qualities of WiFi-Plus antenna technology provide a much-needed solution to last mile and device connectivity, and to reception needs in harsh environments or poorly serviced areas” said Art Paredes, Chairman of ISCe. He added, “WiFi communications that integrates with and extends the strengths of satellite communications is applauded”.
WiFi-Plus Multi-Polarized (MP) antennas can utilize reflected and refracted signals that most other antennas see as noise. The patented technology is the first to achieve 3 dimensional capture in a passive antenna design.
“Many of our antenna designs have dual, tri and multi-band capability making it an ideal one antenna solution: Our Extreme Multi-Banded, one-of-a-kind Antenna Functions at 700-1000MHz Two-Way Commercial/Government Radio Voice/Data, 800/900MHz Cell Phone, GPS, GSM and PCS Worldwide, XM/Sirius Radio” said Dennis Broderick, President of WiFi-Plus, Inc.,”. He added “Providers can deploy this antenna today for WiFi applications and feel confident in that their investment can be easily adapted to future standards. Imagine the benefit for satellite providers like Direct TV to be able to set a dish behind a tree or have better signal quality during severe weather”.
WiFi-Plus antenna technology is being used in several high profile projects and WISP deployments including Lancaster, California, (population 130,000), as well as harsh radio environments including the New York Subway system digital sign project. WiFi-Plus antennas are now in field use by emergency services, bomb squad and public safety organizations because they find improved pattern in LOS, lower error rates and superior signal in mobile or obstructed NLOS environments.
“The value of WiFi-Plus MP technology was proven when mapping of rapidly expanding fires in San Bernandino was required. “Without the capabilities of the WiFi-Plus Ultra (that was mounted on the helicopter hook-rack) transmission of the mapping data would have been very unlikely. Yet, the data did go through and the Supervisor of that Division of the fire had a hard copy map in his hand two minutes after fly-over. He re-deployed his forces and told us that he felt that homes were saved as a result” said Tim Ball of Fireball Information Technologies.
“In the high performance digital radio systems for mobile robotics applications developed by Apple Aid Inc. for use by armed forces and law enforcement personnel, WiFi-Plus’s multi-polar antenna technologies proved almost twice the performance of circular polarized antennas, which were previously the best design for difficult multi-path environments” reported Apple Aid Inc. President Allan Mann, following testing for optimal antenna performance.
Michael Jones, Managing Member/CEO of Niche Concepts, LLC. reported on the effectiveness of WiFi-Plus technology related to “hands-free” micro-video cameras used by numerous state and federal agencies for law enforcement, security, medical, sports end users and a premiere TV network. He said “In all cases the demonstrations and their continued in-field test have been very favorable and in several cases closed deals for us because the antennas works that well”. In comparisons he notes “In most cases the competitions, whip/ducky antennas when worn and matched with high gain patch antennas dropout, but that was not the case with WiFi-Plus equipment. We have even compared the antennas to 900 GHz diversity systems with multiple antennas and WiFi-Plus still beat them. The misunderstanding about 2.4 GHz being used for mobile or moving applications and not working is false when it comes to WiFi-Plus antennas”.
WiFi-Plus currently manufactures product for 750-950mhz, 1.9ghz, 2.4ghz and 5.x and includes product ranging from hand-held devices to hub tower applications.
.
The firm had announced a next generation of antenna design and has created a single feed antenna solution for the WiMax 802.16A standard radios and chipsets. The single antenna can be used with any frequency from 2Ghz through 10Ghz, we call it continuous banded. This is the antenna of the future and solves a major problem for radio and chip providers that must be able to have a single device broadcast in multiple frequencies.
This antenna will allow the wireless infrastructure of tomorrow to be built today, as it will not require replacement as new frequencies are added to radio standards, either licensed or un-licensed. The antenna will perform as well at 2.4 GhZ as at 6 GhZ or anywhere in between.
About WiFi-Plus, Inc.
Wifi-Plus, Inc. holds exclusive patent rights on its proprietary antenna designs, which gathers multi-path reflection and refractions in multiple polarizations and multiple planes, achieving superior coverage in areas that other antennas will receive noise or drop out. WiFi-Plus multi-polarized (MP) antennas collect the available signal in a Doppler-like, 3 dimensional space and combine these signals to produce a signal that would otherwise be considered non-existent. It is the only antenna manufacturer to make such a claim. Contact Doug Crawford at info@wifi-plus.com 708-623-7616. See www.wifi-plus.com
