Embee Technologies deploys new Wi-Fi technology to ensure high performance and reliability for Mission Hospital at reduced cost.
Embee Technologies uses 1/3 fewer access point/radios by utilizing obstruction-penetrating (MP) antennas to cover entire hospital with 100% coverage.
Irvine, CA. – -- Aug 28, 2004 --

August 20, 2004  – Embee Technologies, Southern California’s leading end-to-end wireless infrastructure firm turned to WiFi-Plus, Inc. and their, patented antennas which have remarkable obstruction penetrating qualities for it’s most recent wireless hospital deployment.

“The industry standard antennas lacked the performance we needed for a complex multi path laden environment like Mission Hospital,” said Luke Slymen Chief Technology Officer for Embee Technologies.  “Hospital’s provide a unique set of challenges for deploying a wireless network,” added Rob Clement, Director of Wireless and Structured Cabling. “ “When you factor in shielding for X-ray, MRI, CT scan machines, and people that absorb wireless signals, you’ve got yourself a very challenging environment to deliver reliable wireless services.” said Clement

The uses for such a WiFi network include a variety of advanced voice and data solutions such as alignment of voicemail with the system, integration of the nurse call and alarm notification system, electronic medical record sharing and providing/authorizing patient orders through multiple wireless devices.  The use of wireless is expected to enhance patient care by allowing staff greater mobility in data and voice communications.

“The Wifi-Plus antenna platform facilitates rapid deployment with out disruption to patients and medical staff. This is an important consideration whenever undertaking a hospital Wi-Fi deployment. We sped up deployment, achieved 30 % greater coverage and used less equipment,” concluded Clement.

WiFi-Plus, Inc.  President Dennis Broderick said, “Communications is critical in a hospital. Embee Technologies focus on solving the problem with innovation and an open mind to new technologies has made them a leader in wireless design and implementation. They have an expertise in medical wireless few others have.   We are excited to be associated with the Mission Hospital project and Embee’s up coming hotel installations. They did their homework and have combined best of breed technologies to provide a cost effective solution in a difficult harsh environment.” He finished by saying, Embee understands the use of multi-polarized antennas in obstructed environments and have added the medical community to our list of growing fans. ”

About WiFi-Plus, Inc.

Wifi-Plus, Inc. holds exclusive patent rights on its proprietary antenna designs, which gathers multi-path reflection and refractions in multiple polarizations and multiple planes, achieving superior coverage in areas that other antennas will receive noise or drop out. WiFi-Plus multi-polarized (MP) antennas collect the available signal in a Doppler-like, 3 dimensional space and combine these signals to produce a signal that would otherwise be considered non-existent. WiFi-Plus is the only antenna manufacturer able to make such a claim.

WiFi-Plus, Inc. antenna users include municipalities, telecom providers, retailers, corporations, military, public safety, emergency response, academic, research and government organizations. See www.wifi-plus.com
