FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Wifi-Plus and Dr Jack Nilsson are awarded Patent Pending status on 4 additional antenna patent claims. The claims introduce in built spatial diversity for a single antenna feed. This will dramatically reduce the cost to implement antenna diversity for performance gain into small and hand-held wireless devices.

Wifi-Plus Inc.  - Advanced Antenna Solutions  - was awarded Patent Pending status on four additional patent applications.  The claims further clarify the Wifi-Plus patent awarded in December of 2002 for Multi-Polarized antennas, in addition to offering a solution for in-built diversity in a single antenna feed. “The use of diversity for performance gain is well known and documented at approximately 50%.  Just look at every of the shelf access point you see and you will see they use two antennas. Although a performance gain is achieved, they also give up potential performance in switching.  A single antenna feed offers the benefit of diversity with out the trade-offs.” Said Dr. Nilsson, inventor and CSO of Wifi-Plus Inc. “ This will reduce manufacturer production costs $3 to $5 dollars per unit in a typical access point.” Stated Allen Higgins COO for Wifi-Plus.

Dennis Broderick, CEO for Wifi-Plus added, “Hand held wireless devices present many problems when trying to use multiple antennas feeds for diversity.  They require greater power consumption and circuit board real estate, both of which are a precious commodity in hand-held wireless arena.  This is why many manufacturers have avoided diversity as a solution.”   Mr. Broderick went on to say, ” Smart antennas looked promising but would require additional cost and are still in development.  Our antennas are ready for use today.  They will enable advances in hand-held wireless through simplification of design and will reduce manufacturing costs.  We are honored to have Dr. Nilsson on board and applaud his new achievements.”

The United States Patent Applications were filed as: Apparatus and method for a multi-polarized antenna  United States Patent Applications 20040164917, Compact multi-polarized antenna for portable devices 20040164918, United States Patent Application 20040164919, Apparatus and method for a multi-polarized ground plane beam antenna and United States Patent Application 20040164920 Multi-polarized feeds for dish antennas.

About WiFi-Plus, Inc.

Wifi-Plus, Inc. holds exclusive patent rights on its proprietary antenna designs, which gathers multi-path reflection and refractions in multiple polarizations and multiple planes, achieving superior coverage in NLOS areas that other antennas will receive noise or drop out. WiFi-Plus multi-polarized (MP) antennas collect the available signal in a doppler-like, 3 dimensional space and combine these signals to produce a signal that would otherwise be considered non-existent. WiFi-Plus is the only antenna manufacturer able to make such a claim.

WiFi-Plus, Inc. antenna users include municipalities, telecom providers, retailers, corporations, military, public safety, emergency response, academic, research and government organizations. The firm operates through various distribution channels and is working on licensure of its products with several major radio manufacturers. Interested licensees should see www.wifi-plus.com for further information.
